What Is Taylor Reading?

Another week is beginning and while this is going to be a busy week (Chelsea and I are going to see Pentagon!), I am going to try to finish an audiobook and a physical book. Hopefully by the end of the week I can start another of both. So first, I am going to share my audiobook and my physical read. Then I will do into the audiobook and the physical book for the end of the week!

It’s Monday, What are you reading?

Alright, so I failed pretty hard at getting posts to you guys last week, but can we just appreciate for a moment how hard working Taylor is and how much she’s been getting out. Honestly without getting too mushy or too sappy, I can’t tell you guys how much that girl means to me. Who would have thought there could be someone out there with the same mindset as me, if you’re trying to find your best friend trust me their out there. Just takes a little bit of time. ANYWAY now that I still got a little mushy, why don’t we talk about how my reading is going. I am still reading despite sucking at being active on here!

I really, really, really wish that I had something good to say about this read. I wanted this book to be so good, I wanted it to resonate with me, I wanted to feel a connection. Sadly, it did not. IF YOU ARE NOT IN A GOOD MENTAL HEALTH SPACE THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR YOU. This book spends most of the time focusing on ways to die and “failed” attempts at dying instead of expanding on the causes and effects of everything. While I understand not all mental health books are going to be flowers and roses in the end, I just felt like I was lacking so much from this read. I’m not really sure what I was expecting, but this was not it.

38355098In true Chelsea fashion, instead of picking up something that I was already working on or something that is actually on my TBR, I decided to pick up Dry. I think according to Goodreads I am about 38% through this so far. Honestly I can really already see what all the hype was about this book. It’s told in different perspectives and it focuses on something that unfortunately could become a reality for us, and that’s the loss of drinkable water. I’m really enjoying this, for lack of a better descriptor, dystopian view on modern day society. This will definitely be a book that ends up getting finished this week because I really need to see what is going to happen with this one.

Now I know, this is completely not on brand for me, but I actually am going to attempt to pick up one of my TBR books for the month. Considering the month is almost over I figure I probably need to work on some of my TBR books. I absolutely adore getting to put up the TBR every month and working with Taylor to create our Random Dance Playathon challenges, so it’s probably helpful to finish more than one challenge a month. I have already read a ton this month, but I just really want to focus the last week of the month trying to tackle some of my TBR. Speaking of, how are you guys doing on your TBR for the month, are you being successful or are you straying like myself??

Taylor’s Weekly TBR – 08.26.19

Currently Reading:

As of writing this blog post on Sunday (08/25) I am listening to Damsel by Elana K. Arnold and have about 6 hours and 18 minutes left as I listen on 1.75 speed. I’m still not sure how I feel about this book yet because I am only about an hour into it but I know this is polarizing and problematic.

Plan to Read:

I plan on spending the first couple days of the week at my mother’s house in order to help get her to her appointments and out of the house for a bit so I plan on working on this book on audio and physically. I finished the series late last year so it is about time that I get around to reading/listening to Restore Me.

I am about three chapters into The Lantern’s Ember because I read it for a “try a chapter” video last year. At night, the weather is chilly so I know fall is coming soon. That makes this the perfect time to finally finish this book.

It’s Monday, what are YOU reading?

Another Monday and another start of a week. I cannot believe how quickly August is flying by, but it’s already the 19th and the month is more than half over! I do have to say, this past week I have gotten quite a bit of reading done (more like weekend) so I’m hoping the trend will continue for the rest of the month. Honestly, I’m probably going to start reading a ton of Manga to help pad my numbers for my Goodreads challenge because I feel absolutely horrible about the reading slumps that I’ve been in this year. But I think I might have just pushed myself too hard last year. With that being said, let’s go ahead and talk about whats been going on with my reads as of late.

What did you read last?

39863399This book was one of the ones that I had recently picked up from the library, and while I had some time this weekend I decided to give it a read. Let me say, I was not disappointed with this read. Even coming off of reading Maybe This Time by Kasie West, I was still a little worried about reading a book that skipped so much time and covered only so little in between, but Meredith did such a wonderful job with her writing filling in any needed information from the time that we missed, that I felt like I followed these characters for years. It was extremely heart wrenching at times but beautiful at others. Morgan and Eric will forever be some of my favorite characters I’ve ever read about.

40645629I honestly have so many books on my “Currently Reading” shelf right now that it’s a little bit ridiculous. I really need to sit down this week and finish out all the past ones that I started. One of them being Rayne & Delilah. I believe I started this back some time over the summer through an audiobook loan from the library, and was just casually listening to it. But then my loan expired and I hadn’t even finished the book and there’s now a 12 week hold on it! So what I decided to do was check out the physical book from the library and pick it back up. I was enjoying watching Delia and Josie’s friendship so I’m curious as to see where this one heads.

I think the next goal I’m going to have after clearing out some of my “Currently Reading” is to pick up Shooter by Caroline Pignat since this is one of the books that I chose for our RDP-athon. So far I’ve only completed one challenge and that was for finishing the new Kasie West which completed the challenge for Wanna One’s Boomerang. This book will complete the challenge for BTS Anpanman, and out of the two books that I had picked, this one seems the most interesting to me at this time. I know it’s such a rough and sad topic but reading stories about tragedies such as school shootings is something that I’m sometimes in the mood for, and right now I’m just in that mood.

It’s Monday what are YOU reading?

Hey everyone, so I figured I could bring a little feature that I used to do over on my personal blog over to this one, where I talked about current reads and what I plan to read that week. This way I feel like I get to talk about the books I’m reading a bit more than I already do on here.

This was on my TBR for last month, but somehow I completely forgot that I was even reading this book, so I picked it back up this past weekend to finish reading it. Besides the beautiful cover, I think I was pretty disappointed in this read to be honest. After some thinking today I changed my rating from 3 to 2 stars. The only redeeming thing that this book had was the strong friendship between Caroline and Georgia. I expected there to be more substance or depth to Caroline wanting to run away with her boyfriend Jake, but there wasn’t, and I understand being a teen is different than being an adult but the way things ended just don’t sit right with me.

To be completely honest I’m not that far in to this read yet. I do know that I haven’t even really gotten to the start of the story in just the few chapters that I have read so far. But what I do know is that ever since I’ve been reading I’ve generally fallen in love with Sarah Dessen’s writing. I mean, Literally I owned every book she had written back when I was still in High School and had read them all at that point too. I also only have about 2 days left on the audiobook loan from the library that I have out right now, so hopefully I can get done with this one fairly quickly.

I know I have been seeing this book absolutely everywhere and I’ve heard honestly nothing but good things. I’m going to be picking this up this week for the Barnes and Noble YA book club that they hold every month. I attended the one in June (which was on my birthday!) but unfortunately due to work missed out last month. So I’m really hoping that this week I’ll be able to attend, but I need to read the book before hand so I can participate in any of the chats that we have. I’m also really interested to see what books Barnes and Noble pick for the next upcoming months because there weren’t any announced past this month when they debuted this program.
